About
Has quickly become a benchmark red wine in the region, I feel.

About The Wine

The Ravensworth Shiraz Viognier has become one of the most sought after wines in Canberra, owner/winemaker Bryan Martin now consistently producing a wine of glorious complexity from his home grown fruit.

Bryan's Shiraz is Northern Rhone Valley inspired, with a splash of co-fermented Viognier adding perfume and mouthfeel to what is a remarkable Shiraz. Given Bryan Martin's day-job as assistant winemaker at Clonakilla where he, alongside Tim Kirk, produces Australia's foremost Shiraz Viognier, it comes as no surprise to see this wine reach such great heights.

The 2018 looks sensational once again. If you fancy cool climate Shiraz then this is simply a must for your cellar and/or dinner table. Exceptional value.

About Ravensworth

Bryan Martin is a winemaker at the height of his powers. Setting aside the exceptional work he is doing behind the scenes at regional flagbearer, Clonakilla, his Ravensworth wines have become some of the Canberra region’s hottest releases.

Bryan’s winemaking style is equal parts science and artistic flair. He’s an adventurous spirit trapped in the body of a technical virtuoso. A concert pianist jamming to free jazz. It’s a killer combination.

His range is full of alternative varieties and whacky blends, with texture and balance the key in everything. These are unique wines from a region on the up and up and now some of Canberra’s most sought-after wines.

Critic Reviews

DDS review

"Darker and a deeper concentration with a spice driven aroma, less floral than the 2015 but still very fragrant with those exotic herbs and red fruit flavours. I really like the palate here, so silky and smooth and it builds all the time. This will definitely cellar well for around the 10 year mark but onwards if you like them old and crusty." - Bryan Martin, owner/winemaker

"All from the estate vineyards of Ravensworth in Canberra District. Has quickly become a benchmark red wine in the region, I feel. Such a good wine here. Has that feel of pedigree – lots packed into a small space, fine chomp of tannins, raises on fresh acidity, regional flavours of blueberry, pepper and herbs. Fragrant as all get out too. It’s just that little bit skittish at present, feeling like it would benefit from time in decanter or cellar. Still, the fruit sings here and geewhiz it’s lovely." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

Ravensworth SV

Blue fruits and lovely classic cool climate peppery spice. Nice hit of balanced acidity with long smooth tannin's. the Viognier adds perfume along with some fleshy mouth fill.

Love it!

One of my favourite Shiraz Viognier is Clonakilla's and don't get me wrong, they're a superb wine BUT this wine from Ravensworth is amazing! The nose has lifted perfume of floral mixed with fresh red berries with a soft touch of warm spice (clove?) , the body is medium but very well balanced and continues to impart on your palette juicy cherries, plums and berries balanced with a touch of earthy smoothness. I felt that the finish was somehow just slightly over medium-length. Truly enjoyed this wine! Cheers guys!

A terrific constructed wine showing the subtleties of cool climate shiraz. A reminder of French Syrah

The front palate is at first limited but the wine opens beautifully through the mid and back palate. All the attributes of a cool climate Shiraz are on display. Not overly bold, a good medium bodied wine enjoyed with a variety of light weight meat dishes and creamy cheeses.

No, please mix it up! You can order wines in any quantity and variation you like. You can order 1 bottle or 50. We challenge you to make the ultimate mixed pack of wine!

Are there volume discounts?

No our pricing is aiming to the best in the market already. For very large orders (weddings etc) we are open to negotiating though. Just give us a call. How does the price match work?

Everyday Low & Consistent Pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. If you see a price lower somewhere else let us know and we'll match it. We'll even retrospectively refund you if you have already purchased from us but you see a lower price somewhere later on. Our price match policy can be seen here.

I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me?

This means we are running low on stock of that wine. So for example, if the website will only allow you to add 3 bottles and no more, then that is all we have of that particular wine. The good news is we may be able to order more for you. Just contact us on 1300 668 385 or hello@differentdrop.com and we'll organise the additional quantity for you.

Can I special order a wine you do not sell?

If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
