About The Wine

This wine comes from the McIntyre home vineyard in Mornington Peninsula.

Yearv on year, the fruit from this dry-grown block produces brilliant wines of intensity and structure. Vines planted as early as 1983 thriving in the warm, dry conditions on the Peninsula during the 2018 grow season, with excellent results.

The McIntyre Vineyard Pinot Noir is a wine for quiet contemplation. It will cellar well just as it impresses on release. With a huge 97 points from Huon Hooke, this is a wonderful wine from a top-flight producer.

Critic Reviews

97Points
The Real Review

"Medium to full red colour with a tinge of purple, and a bouquet that refelcts savoury oak-matured nuances, the latter even more evident on the palate. Intense, piercing and very long, with abundant tannins and upright structure. An impressive pinot with great power and potential. The tannins are strong and firm, bordering on extreme, but it's a young wine with terrific ageing potential and those tannins will enable it to handle hearty foods. They are in harmony with the very concentrated flavour. A mighty pinot of grand cru proportions." - Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

95Points
Halliday Wine Companion

"A pinot of compelling flavour intensity and refined, granular tannins. These are as much a product of site, judicious extraction and well appropriated oak regime (15 months; 20% new French). Ferrous. Black cherry, satsuma plum and Asian spice. Forceful. Long and plush, without being fat or sweet. The tannins - grape and oak - operate as ample reins to the wine's exuberance." - Ned Goodwin (Halliday Wine Companion)
