About The Wine
If you've been keeping track of Australia's best alternative variety wines of the last few years, this should already be on your hit list.
The Mayford Tempranillo may well be Australia's most consistently excellent Tempranillo. Grown on a small vineyard in Porepunkah in the Alpine Valleys, Eleana Anderson and Bryan Nicholson are the couple responsible for this beautiful Australian benchmark for the variety.
It's the undeniable power and structure of the wine that truly sets it apart. Consistently one of the finest examples in the land, the 2018 looks to be one of Mayford's best to date. If you want to see how good Australian Tempranillo can be, this is the best place to start.
About Mayford
Mayford has been a work in progress since 1995, now they are one of the leading producers in the Alpine Valley. Setting the bar high, are Eleana Anderson and Bryan Nicholson. Very high indeed.
They only produce four wines from their bucolic estate; Chardonnay, Shiraz, one of the country’s best Tempranillo and a blend of Tempranillo and Cabernet which shows immense promise.
Bryan tends the vines, Eleana makes the wines. From the vine to the bottle, this couple do it all themselves. Small batches of wine with only quality in mind.
A jewel in the crown for the Alpine Valleys and Porepunkah region.
