About the Wine
Ripasso wines are, by their nature, quite intense, due to the dual nature of their fermentation. The initial ferment happens post-harvest, while they do a second fermentation towards the end of winter of the dried local sweet grapes.
I Progni is a single vineyard located in the heart of Valpolicella Classica, in a location well known for a great sun exposure and high temperature variation between night and day. This leads to a wine that can last for a long time with a good minerality, and true terroir expression.
This creates a wine of intense colour and flavour, deeply red with aromas of red fruit, spices and cocoa. Big and soft on the palate, it’s a warm rich wine, with a velvety soft tannin profile.
About Le Salette
Under the sanctuary of Le Salette built in 1860 as a votive offering to Madonna when she freed their vineyards from the scourge of phylloxera, the vineyards have always been the property of the Scamperle family, one of Valpolicella’s historical names, who proudly produce the wines of Le Salette.
It's a classic story, which tells about decades of farming and love for the land, and, above all, a passion for making wine. For generations the Scamperle family has dedicated itself to growing grapes, and to gradually increasing the number of vines. The vineyards have grown slowly and carefully, always respecting the local tradition, which is sensitive to nature and follows its rhythm to bring out the originality and characteristics of the grapes.
Le Salette have never stopped developing their product, basing their quest, on patient research, with quality always at their core. Today, the family owns twenty cultivated hectares situated across the Valpolicella Classica DOC.
