About The Wine

Loving the new faces in premium Aussie Rosé? Well, this little number is another you need to add to your list.

This is made from an interesting blend of two varieties: Sangiovese and Sciaccerrelo (pronounced shak-ar-ello). The grapes were on skins for 24 hours before being pressed and sent to ceramic egg for fermentation and then 5 months on lees in stainless steel before bottling.

It sits firmly in the dry and crisp Rosé category. The lees work taking the edge off, but the lively acidity is the spine of the wine - the thing that drives it long and refreshing through the mouth.

Tension and precision in Rosé is brilliant when you find it, the Koerner boys have got it in spades.

About Koerner

The Koerner brothers, Damon and Jono, are on a mission to bring the classic wine styles of the Clare Valley into the modern day.

They play with a mix of 'classic' Clare Valley varieties such as Riesling, Cabernet and Malbec and a suite of alternate varieties that show a different side of this iconic Australian wine region.

With fruit sourced from their own family vineyard and a move toward more contemporary winemaking, utilising terracotta and ceramic for fermenting and making as little additions as possible in the winery, it's easy to see why their star is on the rise.

As Mike Bennie recently wrote, "Some of the most interesting, delicious wines in Australia are emerging, and the reinvention and sexing up of Clare Valley is apparent."

Additional Info

From The Producer

The Sangiovese (75%) and Sciaccerrelo (25%) fruit was sourced from the flats of Vivian vineyard, which consists of darker clay on limestone.

The fruit was picked on the 25th February. The grapes spent 24 hours on skins before being pressed and settled overnight. Natural fermentation happened in ceramic amphora and lasted around 3 weeks, the wine stayed in ceramic on full lees for 2 months. It was then racked and blended to stainless steel to sit on fine lees for a further 5 months.

Prior to bottling a small sulphur addition was made and the wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered

Blend : Sangiovese (70%), Sciaccerrelo (30%)
ABV : 11.40%
Closure : Screw cap
Drink Until : 2019
Bottle Size : 750ml

DDS review

Crackling with energy and zip. It's a racy Rosé with zingy white strawberry, a dusting of cinnamon and some orange peel notes. Tight and dry through the finish with dart-like precision. Uber refreshing. - Different Drop Wine Team

FaQs
Do I have to order in dozens?

No, please mix it up! You can order wines in any quantity and variation you like. You can order 1 bottle or 50. We challenge you to make the ultimate mixed pack of wine!

Are there volume discounts?

No our pricing is aiming to the best in the market already. For very large orders (weddings etc) we are open to negotiating though. Just give us a call. How does the price match work?

Everyday Low & Consistent Pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. If you see a price lower somewhere else let us know and we'll match it. We'll even retrospectively refund you if you have already purchased from us but you see a lower price somewhere later on. Our price match policy can be seen here.

I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me?

This means we are running low on stock of that wine. So for example, if the website will only allow you to add 3 bottles and no more, then that is all we have of that particular wine. The good news is we may be able to order more for you. Just contact us on 1300 668 385 or hello@differentdrop.com and we'll organise the additional quantity for you.

Does Different Drop have a physical store?

No, not really. More of a warehouse/office. We do however offer a Click & Collect option from our warehouse in Ultimo, Sydney. Our warehouse address for Click & Collect is: F5A, 42 Wattle St, Ultimo, 2007

Can I special order a wine you do not sell?

If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
