About The Wine

The Kir-Yianni Akakies Sparkling Rose is made from Xinomavro, one of Greece's most important red grapes. The wine shows bright aromas and flavours of cherry and strawberry. The wine has a lovely mousse and fresh acidity, with enough sweetness to give it some more palate weight, but without being cloying.

All up, this is a very delicious wine at an incredible price, and perfect for sipping on a warm afternoon or for enjoying with seafood, cheese, poultry and lots of spicy Asian dishes where the sweetness and acidity can help tame the heat.

About Kir-Yianni

The Kir-Yianni story begins back in the 1970s when Yiannis Boutaris planted 40 hectares of vines just outside Naoussa in the area that is now recognised as Amyndeon PDO (Protected Designation of Origin).

Surrounded by mountains in Northwestern Greece, Amyndeon is the coolest of the Greek wine regions. Comparatively moderate temperatures, high altitude and good winter rainfall allow for beautifully balanced reds and fresh and vibrant whites.

Today Kir-Yanni is in the hands of Stelios Boutaris and although it is now one of the largest Estates in Greece the attention to detail is still apparent. Look out for excellent renditions of Xinomavro and lovely whites from Assyrtiko.

From The Produce

The must is composed entirely of grapes carefully selected during the harvest on the basis of their content in sugars, phenols and acidity. The optimal point of maturity for the production of Akakies Sparkling is 10.5 ABV. After delivery at the winery, and before the press, the grapes are chilled at 11-14 °C. Three pressings take place under continuous and gradually increasing pressure.

For the production of Akakies Sparkling we use the second pressing. After the must is settled and racked the first alcoholic fermentation takes place. This fermentation is short and carried out using the traditional method. The wine stays and is stirred on its lees for a few months and then is transferred to the tanks for the second fermentation, during which the bubbles are formed and the wine gains 1% in alcohol.

Do we price match? Yes, within reason. Everyday low & consistent pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. If you see a price lower somewhere else let us know and we'll consider matching it. We'll even retrospectively issue you store credit if you have already purchased from us but you see a lower price somewhere later on. Our price match policy can be seen here.

Can coupons and discounts be stacked? No, only one discount or coupon can be applied to an order at once.

I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me? This means we are running low on stock of that wine. So for example, if the website will only allow you to add 3 bottles and no more, then that is all we have of that particular wine. The good news is we may be able to order more for you. Just contact us on 02 8376 8775 or hello@differentdrop.com and we'll organise the additional quantity for you.

Does Different Drop have a physical store? No. Just an a warehouse/office. We occasionally do events however, so sign up to our newsletter or follow us on instagram to stay in the loop.

Can I special order a wine you do not sell? If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
