About
Every ounce of power is counterbalanced by elegance. It has texture and length, though neither are overly pronounced. It’s handy and then some.

About the Wine

Campbell Mattinson described Jericho as a "Tiny producer making excellent wines", which pretty much sums up this excellent winery. This is a fantastic take on an often misunderstood wine style.

Fermented in old French oak and aged on its lees, this is full of rich texture and complexity.  The key though is the harmony between these creamy oak characters, ripe tropical fruit and cleansing acidity achieved by winemakers Neil and Andrew Jericho.

A delicious, flavour-packed wine for lovers of textural whites, and outstanding value.

About Jericho

Jericho is one of the most exciting emerging producers in South Australia, consistently churning out delicious, characterful and brilliantly priced wines in all styles.

Family owned and run with experienced winemaker Neil Jericho at the helm, they source both traditional and alternative varieties from various vineyards around McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills. Neil sums up the Jericho philosophy: “in every wine I like to see varietal flavour and character. I don’t want to overpower the fruit with oak. It’s got to be in balance, with nothing sticking out. They’ve got to be drinkable!”

Modern, creative and smashable wines and across the range, amazing value.

Additional Info

From the Producer

This is not your typical Sauvignon Blanc. Inspired by wines of the Pouilly-Fumé appellation in France, barrel fermented in old French oak and aged on lees for 5 months. Allowing the yeast autolysis to give spice, complexity and a soft luscious texture. The style of Fumé Blanc gives the wine elegance and interest from barrel fermentation, while the classic fresh and tropical fruit varietal characters remain.

The high altitude of the Kuitpo vineyard in the Southern Adelaide Hills is ideal for this variety. Allowing slower ripening and giving complexity and elegance. Shallow, well drained soils also allow full concentration of flavours in the fruit and a mineral acidity crucial for this style of wine.

The palate displays an elegant fruit bowl of flavours; passion fruit, ripe tropical fruits and citrus are the focus. Well balanced and finishes with a clean and crisp, fresh mineral acidity and subtle toasty oak flavours.

Halliday Wine Companion

"Fermented in older French oak and left on lees for 7 months where it was stirred, conferring breadth and crunchy tension, this is good. Cheesecloth, pineapple and greengage are towed along by a vibrant acid tow that offsets the wine's overall generosity." - Ned Goodwin (Halliday Wine Companion)

"Single vineyard, Adelaide Hills, sauvignon blanc, matured in older oak and lees stirred for seven months.  Right in the groove. Cider apple and fresh hay meet woodsmoke and tropical fruits. Every ounce of power is counterbalanced by elegance. It has texture and length, though neither are overly pronounced. It’s handy and then some." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

Delivery times vary considerably with Australia Post and unfortunately there is no Express Delivery Option for wine (because it is fragile and heavy). Strict government health and safety requirements and very high parcel volumes are causing significant backlogs at the main NSW and VIC sorting facilities. Orders are still arriving safe and sound but you may notice slower delivery times and less frequent scanning updates than usual.
