About This Wine
The historic town of Langenlois is not only the centre of the Kamptal appellation, but also the at the heart of the Hiedler story.
Their Riesling vines grow on the terraced slopes northwest of the town, an area completely formed out of metamorphic and crystalline rock soils. This elegant Riesling is characterised by a fine stone fruit aroma and juicy minerality, with complexity and depth, yet surprisingly moderate acidity, and a nice rounded persistent finish.
It’s a wine which unmistakably reflect its origin and the character of Langenlois and provides a true glimpse into the wines of this historic producer.
About Hiedler
Founded in 1856, the Hiedler winery is now run by the 4th and 5th generations of the family; Ludwig II and his sons Dietmar and Ludwig III.
With historical records of their vineyards growing fruit as far back as the 13th century, they are truly custodians of ancient vineyards. The Hiedler family was instrumental in the creation of the Österreichische Traditionsweingüter (Traditional Austrian Wineries) association in 1992, with the stated goal to classify the vineyards of Austria.
All their viticultural practices are done by hand, and it has been decades since any herbicides, or pesticides have been used in the vineyards. In the cellar the focus is on the use of indigenous yeasts for fermentation, while allowing nature to take its course without manipulation.
