About The Wine
In 2018, Georges Descombes bottled a portion of the old vines he manages on Brouilly separately.
Though it doesn't specifically say Vieilles Vignes on the label, the red wax and different bottle shape denotes the premium selection under his label. This is considered to be one of the benchmarks for Brouilly.
This wine is singing the song of the excellent 2018 vintage in full voice.
There is just a little more of everything here - deeper fruit, richer perfume, that underlying minerality in Descombes' wines cranked up a few notches - it's a beautiful wine.
About Georges Descombes
Georges Descombes is the son of a Beaujolais vigneron who found his inspiration for his own label in the legendary wines of local legend, Marcel Lapierre.
Whilst working on the bottling line for many of the local producers, Georges was taken with the purity and finesse of the wines of Lapierre who's natural approach has carved a path for so many in the region. Georges has taken his father's traditional farming practices to another level, now having both his inherited and acquired vineyards certified organic and choosing a hands-off approach in the cellar.
Considered the unofficial fifth member of the legendary "Gang of Four" of top-flight Beaujolais revolutionaries, his wines are of the highest repute.
