About The Wine
Tasty Ploussard from the beautiful Arbois part of Jura, a red that has concentration without heaviness, and a lovely drawn-out minerally finish.
Sourced from 70 year-old vines, fully destemmed and aged without oak interference, this is a very enjoyable, focused light red, filled with floral notes and spicy red fruits.
NB: Poulsard and Ploussard are the same grape, different villages within Jura spell and pronounce it differently... Merci for that!
About Fumey Chatelain
Fumey Chatelain is a husband and wife team - Raphael Fumey and Adeline Chatelain, who tend about 17 hectares of vineyards in the Jura subregion of Arbois.
Thirty years ago they were solely grape-growers but after the devastating frost of 1991 left them with only a tiny crop to sell they decided to make the wine themselves, and have not looked back since.
Now based in Montigny-lès-Arsures, the recent wines are predominantly the work of their globetrotting son, Marin, who has spent time at Spinifex in the Barossa among many other vintage stints around the world.
The wines are made with minimum intervention and they are in the process of organic and biodynamic certification. As they say..."respectful of the living soil we do everything possible to obtain healthy berries. Good wines are produced with great grapes."
