Tastes and smells beautiful, feels fancy... wonderful expression.

About The Wine
The Walsh Block Syrah comes from the vineyard next door to Eastern Peake.
Owen ferments the wine in a large wax-lined concrete fermenter, leaves it unsulphered until after winter and then bottles it with a small amount of SO2.
The cool climate in Ballarat/Coghills Creek allows Owen to craft a more elegant example of Syrah where spice and texture take centre take pride of place instead of outright fruit power and oak.
It's a gorgeous drink now, and will mature beautifully for many years to come.
About Eastern Peake / Latta Vino
Is anyone working as hard as Owen Latta to put Ballarat in the mix of Australia's foremost wine regions? At only 15 years old he completed his first vintage at Eastern Peake alongside his father and has since taken on the full-time running of the business.
Owen is the man primarily responsible for both the Eastern Peake and Latta wines, the former of which being dedicated to premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Eastern Peake vineyard, and the latter being Owen's personal project all about innovation from a range of excellent central Victorian vineyards.
The wines are all gently brought to life with very astute yet hands-off winemaking, and Owen's low and zero-sulphur wines are some of the best examples in the country. These are thrilling, absolutely unique Victorian wines, and quite simply Owen Latta is one of Australia's finest young winemakers.
