The 2018 Rully En Guesnes has turned out brilliantly once again, (…) it's deep and sapid, underpinned by a chassis of powdery tannins and succulent acids.

About The Wine
1.3 hectares of 40-70 year old organic Pinot noir provide the fruit for this tiny, and sought after, bottling from Rully royalty Dureuil-Janthial.
Painstaking winemaking to exacting standards has produced a brilliant wine of detail and depth. The lively fruit is pure and fresh and the underlying notes of raw cocoa and fresh earth add to the complexity. Powdery tannin and delicate acid knit together perfectly.
A burgundy that offers so much for comparatively little. Buy some if you can.
About Domaine Vincent Dureuil-Janthial
Van-son Doo-rey Jon-tea-ahl. Yes, it's a mouthful but this is a name you should get to know. Dureuil-Janthial are widely recognised as the finest estate in Rully and, whilst relatively unknown here, they have a long and loyal following of Burgundian growers who turn to their wines at every opportunity. >
Rully is just 15 minutes south of Cote de Beaune, Dureuil-Janthial have small, but outstanding, holdings, spread across the village. The viticulture is organic and guided by biodynamics and in the winery a kid glove and attention to detail is paramount. Practises common in the greatest appellations of Burgundy are standard here and that sets these wines apart from Rully at large.
Our advice? don't worry about the long name or the vineyards you've not heard of. Don't even worry which cuvee you go for, take a leaf out of Coche's book, and drink these wines as often as you can. It won't be very often given the volumes, but you'll be glad when you do.
