About The Wine
A blend of five organically grown plots around the village of Rully. The average age of the parcels is forty years, but the oldest vines are well over one hundred years old. This kind of vine age is extremely rare in Cote Chalonnaise and provides a depth that Vincent's fastidious wine growing, and making, captures perfectly.
Crisp citrus and florals sing through some very nice notes of struck match reduction. Classy wood accentuates the depth of fruit and lends a framework to the ripe stone fruit. A great white Burgundy that could bowl many more prestigious appellations for six. Excellent value.
About Domaine Vincent Dureuil-Janthial
Van-son Doo-rey Jon-tea-ahl. Yes, it's a mouthful but this is a name you should get to know. Dureuil-Janthial are widely recognised as the finest estate in Rully and, whilst relatively unknown here, they have a long and loyal following of Burgundian growers who turn to their wines at every opportunity. >
Rully is just 15 minutes south of Cote de Beaune, Dureuil-Janthial have small, but outstanding, holdings, spread across the village. The viticulture is organic and guided by biodynamics and in the winery a kid glove and attention to detail is paramount. Practises common in the greatest appellations of Burgundy are standard here and that sets these wines apart from Rully at large.
Our advice? don't worry about the long name or the vineyards you've not heard of. Don't even worry which cuvee you go for, take a leaf out of Coche's book, and drink these wines as often as you can. It won't be very often given the volumes, but you'll be glad when you do.
