About The Wine

Greta Carbo is a slinky, seductive number, polished and beautifully poised.

Of the suite of phenomenal wines from this producer, Greta may be the most suited to a little extra time in the bottle.

This cuvee is denser, wonderfully structural and shows a perfect balance bewteen sweet earthy tannin and plush pools of fruit.

If you've ever wondered what great 'natural' wines take like, this is as good an example as you will find.

It's savoury yet smooth and flat out stunning to drink.

About Domaine Marc Delienne

At the ripe old age of 56, Marc Delienne made an incredible sea (or vine) change.

He left his life in Paris working in IT & banking and moved himself to Beaujolais. In 2015 he purchased Château de l’Abbaye Saint Laurent d’Arpayé in the centre of Fleurie. Mentored by the likes of Alain Graillot and Eloi Dürrbach at Domaine Trévallon in Provence, he came to town with the fiery passion of a man many years his junior.

A conversion of his 40-80-year-old vines to organic farming was immediate. A vat room was built in short order. Gorgeous, elegant wines made with meticulous attention to detail emerged in what seemed like no time at all.

Now entering his sixth decade on this planet, Marc thinks of himself as a young winemaker, and well he might. His wines have the edginess and energy that you would associate with the finest vanguard producers in the French wine community today.

Located in the South-East part of the Fleurie vineyard, soils are mainly sandy or sandy loam, stemed from primary rocks (granite) or ancient alluvium, covered by sometimes a dense layer of pebbles of low to average depth.

Culture
The black Gamay vines were planted 40 to more than 80 years ago, with a density of 10,000 vines/hectare (2.5 acres) and pruned using the gobelet method. Plants are trained rather high. Soils are tilled.

Manual harvesting in small boxes, sorting in the cellar. Grapes are cooled in cold cellar at a 5°C (41°F), then gently put into vats. The concrete vat, carbon dioxide saturated, is closed and kept at a 8°C (4.6°F) temperature. The juices are extracted every day. Pressing after 3 weeks, end of fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats..

Élevage
4 months in 5 wines barrels, as soon as the after alcoholic fermentation is finished.

The Wine Front

"The name suggests something, no doubt! Whole bunch, concrete tanks, no additions, hello. Importer: High Hopes. Bright and vivacious style, deep into ripe cherry, stewed cherry, warm forest berry zone with pops of pepper, green herb and chamomile. Supple in the palate, soft and round, mouth-watering acidity and supple tannins. Lovely, bright finish closes the wine. Such a treat here. So seductive." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

Delivery times vary considerably with Australia Post and unfortunately there is no Express Delivery Option for wine (because it is fragile and heavy). PLEASE NOTE that we are currently seeing significant delays in the Australia Post delivery network. Strict government health and safety requirements and very high parcel volumes are causing significant backlogs at the main NSW and VIC sorting facilities. Orders are still arriving safe and sound but you may notice slower delivery times and less frequent scanning updates than usual.

FaQs

Do I have to order in dozens? No, please mix it up! You can order wines in any quantity and variation you like. You can order 1 bottle or 50. We challenge you to make the ultimate mixed pack of wine!

Are there volume discounts? No, our pricing is designed to be the best in market already - no marking up and then discounting down! For very large orders (weddings, etc) we are open to negotiating though. Just give us a call.

Do we price match? Yes, within reason. Everyday low & consistent pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. If you see a price lower somewhere else let us know and we'll consider matching it. We'll even retrospectively issue you store credit if you have already purchased from us but you see a lower price somewhere later on. Our price match policy can be seen here.

Can coupons and discounts be stacked? No, only one discount or coupon can be applied to an order at once.

I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me? This means we are running low on stock of that wine. So for example, if the website will only allow you to add 3 bottles and no more, then that is all we have of that particular wine. The good news is we may be able to order more for you. Just contact us on 1300 668 385 or hello@differentdrop.com and we'll organise the additional quantity for you.

Does Different Drop have a physical store? No. Just an a warehouse/office. We occasionally do events however, so sign up to our newsletter or follow us on instagram to stay in the loop.

Can I special order a wine you do not sell? If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
