About The Wine
Lots of contenders for most picturesque vineyard in the world (Rippon in Otago must be up there) but there can't be many better located sites than Domaine de Chatillon on the shores of Lac du Bourget in the heart of the stunning Savoie region.
And the wines are good too, and really good value. This Rose is 90% Gamay with Pinot Noir making up the difference. It's got a pale onion-skin colour and hints at being a very savoury wine. It is, but it is also bright and satisfying, with strawberry leaf and cherry flavours and a pomegranate tang.
Very fine stuff that will transport you to one of France's most beautiful spots.
About Domaine de Chatillon
The stunning French Alpine region of Savoie is known for its beautiful freshwater lakes and snow capped mountains. The wines of Domaine de Chatillon are produced from plots overlooking the Lac du Bourget and are vibrant, fresh and clean wines that convey their alpine origins.
Offering an exciting introduction to this dynamic region, the label pays homage to the 11th Century Castle overlooking the lake. The property is owned by Edouard Peter who is also the owner of Australian iconic winery Yarra Yering & he has for many decades been a lover of the region & its wines.
Historically the wines of Savoie have been consumed locally as the region only produces less than 1% of France's production & the wines where rarely seen outside of the region , let alone outside of France.
