About The Wine
To paraphrase Jacobin Mugatu “McLaren Vale old-vine Grenache is so hot right now”.
Australian wine consumers are truly lucky, as we see release after release of exceptional old-vine Grenache coming out of the Vale at the moment. With a wealth of vines that would have their pensioner cards now if they were people, the region is producing stunning, individual releases from so many great winemakers.
This is another along those lines, a bright, and refreshing expression of the variety. Light, with loads of red summer berries, and bunchy spice highlighting the perfume, adding complexity to this briiliant value for money wine.
About Cooter & Cooter
Cooter & Cooter are Kimberly & James, a husband and wife winemaking and grape growing duo, both of whom are second generation winemakers.
Their logo reflects the connection between the generations of winemakers within both their families, with the specific script a homage to various Cooter businesses dating back to 1847.
Purchasing their dream vineyard in 2012 in McLaren Vale, they inherited mostly youngish Shiraz, alongside some beautiful, gnarly old vine Grenache planted in the 1940, one of the elite vineyard characteristics of the region.
They have a simple and straight-forward outlook, to make wines from fruit and regions they love, with an eye on evolving their own vineyards to organic/biodynamic practices as they further establish their own roots.
