Three white Saumurs are produced with the desire to carve magnificent sleek Chenins, stripped of all artifice... these whites are already among the greatest in Saumur.

About The Wine
Le Haie Nardin is a one-hectare lieu-dit of 50-year-old vines on sandy clay over limestone on the Courchamps plateau. It's this sandier soil composition that Michel Chevre credits for the expressive and aromatic nature of this particular release.
Whilst far from entry level this is the most approachable of Chevre's three wines, it has a lovely open knit texture and seamless acidity, the fruit is ripe and expressive and the finish long and saline.
Terrific tension and balance. A really great introduction to a producer who will go far.
About Clos de l'Ecotard
Clos de l'Ecotard is a tiny Saumur Domaine comprising of just three wines from three organically and biodynamically farmed hectares in limestone-rich Courchamps. Michel Chevre, the vigneron behind this Saumur gem, was right hand man to Thierry Germain at Domaine Roches Neuves from 1992- 2017 and can be fairly credited for his major contributions to the meteoric rise of that estate. When Chevre bid farewell to his old friend to go it alone Clos de l'Ecotard was born.
Chevre's work in his simple winery is strictly lo-fi and his mantra is ‘The less work I do the happier I am'. These are wines from great plots that have been farmed with dedication and vinified with careful reserve.
Cool, ripe, textural and energetic it seems a foregone conclusion that this producer is only just getting started.
