About This Wine
Off some of the youngest vines in Musar's vineyards, this blend of Chardonnay, Vermentino, and Viognier, is a new direction for the winery, using French and Italian white varietals as opposed to the native varietals, that had always made up their white blends.
Un-oaked, the Jeune White has its own distinct personality: tart fruits, fragrant white flowers, bright acidity, all leading to a dry, and refreshing finish.
It’s quite an interesting combination, the Vermentino, grown in similar conditions to its origins, adds citrus, mineral and salinity, and its low alcohol levels blend well with the rich, buttery Chardonnay and fragrantly aromatic Viognier.
About Chateau Musar
The story of Musar is one of one history, perseverance in the face of adversity, and one of a family that has had a singular focus over 3 generations to produce exceptional wine honouring ancient traditions no matter the challenges they have faced.
Founded by Gaston Hochar in the 1930’s, the winery gained international recognition under his son Serge, in the late 1970’s.
Despite all the turmoil that Lebanon underwent during the late 70’s and early 80’s, Chateau Musar continued to produce wines throughout.
Farming organically as they always have, their vineyards were certified in 2006. Planted to Cabernet, Cinsault, Carignan for the reds, and indigenous varietals Obiadeh and Merwah for the whites, the vineyards sit at high elevations in the Beka’a Valley, on calcareous, pebble filled stony soils.
