About the Wine
If the Marcel Malbec from Chateau du Cedre is the lighter, softer side of Malbec, then the Heritage is its more serious, grown up brother.
Its dark colour gives you a little idea of what to expect within - blue and black berries, a bit of plumminess, firm tannin and a backbone of spice.
If you like your Malbecs big and ballsy, look no further. It'll give Argentinian Malbecs a run for their money.
About Chateau du Cedre
In 1958, Charles Verhaeghe and Marie-Therese Rives decided to plant a hectare of grape vines in their multi-crop farm. This venture didn't pay off until 1973, though, when these two self taught winemakers carried out their first bottling.
Charles' sons, Pascal and Jean-Marc, run the estate now, with Pascal devoting himself to the winemaking and Jean-Marc being caretaker of the vines. They've expanded things a bit at the estate, now having a total of 27 ha of vines - all certified organic since 2012.
Pascal's sons have also caught the winemaking bug and have joined the family business too. Together, their enthusiasm and passion for making top quality wines has brought the estate to being seen as one of the top estates in the Cahors region.
