I can't compromise on quality. Everything I thought was a challenge in my life has turned out to be the opportunity of a lifetime."
- Virginie Taittinger

A serious vintage Crand Cru Blanc de Noir here from the one-and-only Virginie Taittinger. Entirely Pinot Noir, entirely Grand Cru and given at least six years on lees, the 2018 Blanc de Noirs delivers plenty for the money.

Virginie Taittinger and her son Ferdinand make this from three celebrated villages on the northern slopes of the Montagne de Reims. Verzenay, where the house is based, supplies most of the fruit, with Verzy and Mailly-Champagne completing the blend.

The sunny 2018 season gave them ripe, generous Pinot Noir, while these northern sites helped retain freshness and structure. Long ageing builds texture and complexity, with a low Extra Brut dosage keeping the finish dry.

Red berry and cherry notes come with a gentle floral lift and a chalky, savoury edge. There’s real breadth through the palate, balanced by fresh acidity and a long, salty finish. It takes all the fruit, structure and texture from the other Virginie T cuvees and wraps them up together - it's a stunning Champagne.

Pour it in a wine glass and give it time to open up. Grand Cru vintage Champagne with six years of patience from a sensational small producer. Fantastic buying for true Champagne lovers.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2572/9722/files/2018ChampagneVirginieTBlancdeNoirsGrandCruMontagnedeReims.png?v=1791511898
https://www.differentdrop.com/products/2018-champagne-virginie-t-blanc-de-noirs-grand-cru-montagne-de-reims
