About This Wine
100% estate-grown, the ‘Moonlight Race’ from Burn Cottage is a blend of two sites; their ‘home’ vineyard in Cromwell, and the ‘Sauvage’ vineyard in Bannockburn, which they had purchased a few years ago.
Both vineyards are farmed biodynamically, and between them offer up eight different Pinot clones, bring a myriad of nuances to this wine. Savoury and herbal layered with spice, red fruit, pepper, and mineral complexity. Elegant and supple, the wine exhibits the ‘smooth criminal’ of tannin structure.
Justin Bieber level 'top of the pops' here, Central Otago at its finest.
About Burn Cottage
Burn Cottage was founded by husband and wife team Marquis Sauvage and Dianne Sauvage in 2002.
They'd searched the 'New World' for the perfect site to plant a great Pinot Noir vineyard. This special site, a sheep farm in Central Otago, was where they chose to plant.
They employed a rock-star team to kick off the project. World-renowned, Burgundian-trained winemaker Ted Lemon came on board, leading biodynamic experts Peter Proctor and his partner Rachel Pomeroy were employed to consult on establishing the vines.
The vineyard has been biodynamic since inception. The focus, a single-minded mission to produce truly world-class Pinot Noir.
