About The Wine

Benjamin Leroux's Bourgogne Blanc is sourced from his vineyard holdings in Meursault.

This is a very high level of quality to be labelled under the banner of Bourgogne. The level of care and attention to detail undertaken by Leroux in crafting this cuveé is not dissimilar to the way he treats his 1er and Grand Cru offerings.

The wine is matured in large oval-shaped vats and left quietly to rest on lees and gather texture over the winter.

This is a Chardonnay with great  depth and structure, and one of the best possible places to start if you're wandering into the wonderful land of white Burgundy.

About Benjamin Leroux

Burgundian native Benjamin Leroux is one of the brightest minds and winemaking talents of his generation.

Considered a winemaking prodigy from an early age, Leroux attended the Lycée Viticole in Baune at the tender age of 13. Then, at the age of just 26, he ascended to the roles of manager and winemaker in the famed cellars of Domaine Comte Armand - a remarkable vote of confidence in one so young.

In 2007 he launched his eponymous label to wide critical acclaim. His has been a meteoric rise through the ranks of Burgundy's producers. His incisive modern approach to winemaking combined with his deep knowledge and respect for tradition has seen his small, hand-crafted cuveés coveted by collectors across the world.

These wines speak eloquently of where they come from. A legend in the making, Leroux's wines are some of the most exciting in modern-day Burgundy.

From The Importer

A mini-Meursault, this is also the first Leroux Bourgogne drawn almost entirely from Estate fruit (about 90%). The vineyards are Les Millerands, Sous la Velle and Les Belles Côtes, with each parcel well sited on the Côte. Unlike the vast majority of Bourgogne—which typically hails from the plains below the D974—Leroux’s vines are grown on limestone-rich terroirs above the main road. The Meursault fruit was supplemented with some 10% from the Hautes-Côtes this year. It was mostly raised in 12-hectolitre foudres for 12 months before finishing its élevage in stainless steel for four months. As always, this punches well above its weight. There’s terrific generosity but it’s also matched by sappy, juicy drive and length.

Blend : Chardonnay (100%)
ABV : 13%
Closure : Screw Cap
Drink Until : 2027
Bottle Size : 750ml

The Wine Front

"Cool feel to the wine with green melon and white peach, a subtle mint and floral perfume, and distinct creamy almond character. It’s silky and glossy, but fresh, the almond character most pleasant, subtle powdery texture, and a clean finish of good length. It’s polished, but stylish, and lovely to drink." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)
