About The Wine
The Albino Rocca Barbaresco Montersino stems from a vineyard whose fruit has only been vinified separately since 2012, highlighting the character possible from these relatively young vines.
Like the Rocca Cotta, it presents stunning aromas of ripe red fruits and menthol, with a floral element that gives the wine lift and great appeal. The palate shows more savouriness than fruit, though the dark cherry and raspberry sit well with the liquorice and chocolate. The acidity keeps everything fresh while the tannins are fine and well integrated.
While the Montersino might be considered a little brother to the other Rocca Barbarescos, it still has some oomph to it, and will continue to evolve in the bottle.
About Albino Rocca
Albino Rocca is one of the premier producers in Barbaresco. Their wines have an air of effortless transparency and elegance about them, showing the charms and beauty of Piemonte with traditional winemaking and great vineyards as the foundations.
Following Angelo Rocca's tragic passing in 2012, his three daughters (Daniela, Monica and Paola) have taken the estate to new heights, consistently releasing outstanding blended and single vineyard Barbarescos, and driving the quality of the Barbera and Dolcetto to new heights.
They were recently awarded “Green Experience” certification - a brand dedicated to the wines of Piedmont aiming at a collective, integrated and sustainable certification for the region. The accreditation promotes both conservation of natural resources and protection of the magnificent, rolling landscape. Its goal is an ecological viticulture achieved via natural agricultural techniques and decreased use of chemicals.
