About The Wine

This is the first release of a TMV (Tamar Valley) Riesling from young, explosive winemaker, Ricky Evans.

This is a tightly coiled and refined Riesling of streamlined fruit character and finesse. A smidge of residual sugar gives this a lovely balance in the mouth, making it brilliant to drink immediately, though a sleep in the cellar is also a fine option.

Ricky continues to impress, a rising star of the Tasmanian wine scene and one to keep a close eye on. If you love Riesling from cooler climes, his is absoloutely worth a look.

About Two Tonne Tasmania

With the slogan ‘small parcels, big love’, Ricky Evans' thoughtful winemaking approach has seen his southern star rise rapidly with a swag of accolades in a relatively short time.

Since his serendipitous entry into the much saught after sub-region of the Tamar Valley in 2013, he has garnered a reputation for producing some of Tasmania's most exciting and hard-to-get small batch wines.

Pinot Noir is Ricky’s main game, and he plays hardball. His Pinots show brilliant light and shade. A gentle touch in the winery allows fruit and vineyard to shine - a theme that carries through his excellent regional examples of Riesling and Chardonnay.

The wines of TTT typify the purity and elegance of modern Tasmania.

From The Producer

From a warmer site than the Ziggurat Riesling, this was sourced from Swan Bay. A cool season ended with a little ‘Indian Summer’, where the mild and dry weather allowed this parcel to ripen slowly and evenly, with natural balanced acidity.

Fruit was destemmed, and pressed slowly in a long and gentle program, only free run juice was taken for this cuvee. Cold and slow ferment on light solids, ferment was arrested at 6.5g/L Residual Sugar to find balance. Bottled August 2017, unfined.

Fragrant with rich lime, custard apple, lemon rind, salty nuance, soft talc. Green apple, spiced lime juice and just-talc driven texture, this wine should reward long term cellaring in good conditions.

Blend : Riesling (100%)
ABV : 12.00%
Closure : Screw cap
Drink Until : 2027
Bottle Size : 750ml

The Wine Front

"Quite intense as riesling goes. Teeth-chattering acidity in the best possible way, all grapefruit, just ripe green apple and talc-mineral-like in its charm. The finish curls into a gentle slick of sweeter apply character, a nice finish to a wine that races across the palate with a breathless, revitalising feel. Acid heads will love the style, those seeking a shy off-dry style will love the style. Straight between the posts." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)
