About the Wine
Trimbach and Riesling go together like, well, Alsace and Riesling. The domaine has been producing wine for such a long time (since 1626) that it really a part of the Alsatian landscape. It's almost as if one cannot exist without the other.
This is textbook stuff here, and there are no surprises to how great it is for the price. Ripe citrus - lemons, limes, and mandarin - all shine through with peach, white blossoms and beeswax. It resonates and pulses with vitality and energy, too. It's a serious wine, but not one to be taken seriously.
About Trimbach
The origins of Trimbach go back as far as 1626, and it is still in family hands, 12 generations down the line. They are quite simply the icon winery of Alsace.
Based around their winery in Ribeauville they have around 57 hectares of vineyards including several famous Grand Cru sites, with Riesling being the obvious calling card among the other Alsatian aromatic whites.
Their masterpieces are the famous Rieslings, Clos Saint Hune and Cuvee Frederic Emile, which are among France's greatest white wines, though they are rarely seen.
