About The Wine
The Theia Pinot Noir is a spicy, bunchy, wild version of Pinot from Candice and Frewin's Arranmore vineyard in the Adelaide Hills.
This was an experiment in whole-bunch winemaking, the CRFT couple looking for a more structural wine from their block by fermenting this parcel of fruit as 100% whole clusters. The finished wine is packed with attitude.
Think green pepper and cherry with a sappy/stemmy texture and crisp acidity.
Another cracker release from this Adelaide Hills winemaking power couple.
The CRFT story is an exciting, and ambitious one.
Husband and wife team of Frewin Ries and Candice Helbig both gained extensive winemaking experience for large companies like Cloudy Bay (Frewin) and Hardys (Helbig), before launching into CRFT with the 2013 vintage.
They only produce tiny volumes of all their wines, and their philosophy is all about minimally interfered with single vineyard wines that truly express the different sub-regions of the Adelaide Hills.
They have purchased a vineyard in the Adelaide Hills and continue to work with trusted local growers to produce their high quality, highly characterful wines.
