About The Wine
Steve Lubiana's attention to detail in his biodynamically farmed vineyard in southern Tasmania has yeilded some excellent results over the last decade.
Each year the wines are more refined, concentrated, and tell a more specific story of his patch of land from that vintage. The Pinot Gris from 2017 tells a very compelling story, one of the maturing of Pinot Gris in Aus. It's Pinot Gris as a fine wine, not just a 'Sunday smasher'.
A bit of skin contact and some barrel work in the winery raises this above the pack.
It's about as good as Australian Pinot Gris gets at the moment, it's worth every penny.
About Stefano Lubiana
Steve and Monique Lubiana were pioneers of biodynamic farming in Tasmania.
Their gorgeous estate was the first to adopt the principals of biodynamics in 2008. Since then the quality of the Stefano Lubiana premium range has soared. The wines are immaculate: Pinot noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Sparklings all packed with flavour intensity and perfectly balanced.
As Mike Bennie observed, "Geez, there’s been some wind in the sail on their estate in southern Tasmania. This is top notch stuff right here."
Steve, a fifth-generation winemaker, is now one of Tasmania's leading producers, no doubt about it.
