About the Wine
Tasmania's Pinot Noir Maestro has released a trio of single vineyard Pinot Noirs, highlighting the variety of terroirs within the Derwent River Valley that winds north west out of Hobart.
La Roccia, the Rock, is the plot that produces the most sturdy, structured and cellar-worthy of wines, though it is of course delicious to look at right now.
The fruit is on the darker spectrum with a plummy plushness, and some spicy notes in the background. Good grip.
About Stefano Lubiana
Steve and Monique Lubiana were pioneers of biodynamic farming in Tasmania. Their gorgeous estate was the first to adopt the principals of biodynamics in 2008. Since then the quality of the Stefano Lubiana premium range has soared. The wines are immaculate: Pinot noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Sparklings all packed with flavour intensity and perfectly balanced.
As Mike Bennie observed, "Geez, there’s been some wind in the sail on their estate in southern Tasmania. This is top notch stuff right here." Steve, a fifth-generation winemaker, is now one of Tasmania's leading producers, no doubt about it.
