Unnerving consistency from one of my favourite (if not favourite) Australian wine producers…

About The Wine
If you are an avid collector of Beechworth's finest Chardonnays then this stunning Chardonnay from Barry and Jan Morey of Sorrenberg needs a place in your cellar.
The cooler site that the Sorrenberg vineyard occupies gives off Chardonnay of elegance and purity, with Barry's winemaking gently building power and texture through 100% barrel fermentation in an astute mixture of new and used oak.
This is a striking, characterful Chardonnay from a gem of a producer. The 2017 vintage received a huge 96 points from The Wine Front's Mike Bennie.
Want Chardonnay that tastes like REAL Chardonnay? Here's a beauty.
About Sorrenberg
Barry and Jan Morey planted their stunning Beechworth vineyard in 1986. Their first release in 1989 began the Sorrenberg story, a story destined to be one of Australia's great estates.
Barry farms with adherence to biodynamics, believing this to be the best way to get the most out of his home block of 2.4 Ha. on the outskirts of Beechworth. Their wines are famous for their balance and longevity. The wines are made in traditional fashion, with wild yeasts for fermentation, gentle oak maturation and basket pressing for each wine.
The Gamay is arguably their most sought after wine, however, the thumbprint of Barry's attention to detail is stamped across each release and the Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc Semillon and Cabernet blend are amongst the finest of heir kind in the country.
Sorrenberg is one of the true gems of Beechworth, and indeed Australian, wine.
