When I think about what the grape of Australia is, it's Grenache.
About The Wine
After making wines with Marco Cirillo in the Barossa Valley, winemaker Sierra Reed became enchanted with the beauty of old vine Barossa Grenache.
When looking for some fruit to craft her own version, she called upon Wayne Ahern who supplies many of the country's up-and-coming winemakers with his delicious biodynamically grown fruit.
He had the sandy soils that Sierra was after that would give her the lift and perfume she was chasing.
She made it just like she makes her Gamay in Beaujolais - to be bright and crunchy and effortless to drink.
About Reed Wines
Sierra Reed has made wines all over the world.
From Barolo to the Barossa, from Central Otago to Beaujolais she has travelled the globe on a personal journey of wine discovery.
She now crafts super-small batches of delicate wines from South Australia and Victoria. She has a light touch in the winery, always looking for softness, fragrance and levity in her wines.
Sierra's is a star on the rise.
