About The Wine
Tim Shand has done some excellent things with the Punt Road range since taking the reins. Pumping his energy and skill through every vein in the brand. This is the latest exciting develop on his watch. Tim takes on Yarra Valley Gamay with a vengeance. The vines were grafted over from Viognier in 2014.
The grapes were fermented as two separate batches: the first de-stemmed and fermented as whole berries as is the custom in the variety's spiritual home in Beaujolaise, the second was kept as 100% whole bunches for added structure and complexity.
Intelligent winemaking, here. The finished wine is just a pleasure to drink.
The 2017 vintage was close to perfect ripening conditions for Gamay on the Punt Road vineyard. With 93 points from Gary Walsh, this release is a step up in quality from the inaugural 2016 vintage. It is undeniably delicious to the last drop.
