About The Wine
Pikes are a part of the furniture in the Clare Valley. They have an incredibly loyal following and one that is well founded.
Their wines are sensational value, their Clare Valley whites are some of the most respected in the region. This intentionally misspelt version of Savagnin, was given its name Impostores due to the long held notion that this was actually a planting of Alberinio, Pikes weren't the only Australian producer caught out by this confusion, but at least they had a sense of humour about it.
This version of Savagnin walks the balance between fruit and savoury texture deftly.
The 2017 release was rated 93 points by Campbell Mattinson for the 2019 Halliday Wine Companion. He describes it as a "White wine with a bit to say."
Pikes are a much-loved family institution in the Clare Valley.
Neil Pike and his family have built one of the region's most iconic estates on the back of a reputation for exceptional quality. Riesling and Shiraz are their forté.
Their wines age gracefully but also come in-built with exceptional complexity and drinkability in their youth.
The Pikes range of wines offer great regional examples for outstanding value.
