About The Wine
Out Of Step are experts in Yarra Valley Sauvignon Blanc.
They make multiple expressions from top vineyards across the region. Each is made basically the same (excluding the Margin Walker and the psychedelic Catbird) so the differences in the vineyard accents shine through.
This is from the Lone Star vineyard, a happy hunting ground for high-quality fruit for many a negociant-style winemaker in the region.
This recieved 94 points both on The Wine Front and in Jame Halliday's Wine Companion.
An excellent wine in the upper echelon of Australian Sauvignon Blanc.
About Out Of Step
Dave Chatfield is the man behind the Out Of Step project.
After working vineyards in the Yarra Valley for years, Dave decided it was time to start his own thing.
The philosophy behind his wines: “To be great it must be real, expressive & honest.”
The wines are made with very little tinkering in the winery, allowing the great vineyards he sources fruit from to shine.
Based in the Yarra Valley, but sourcing fruit from various parts of Victoria, Out Of Step is forging a reputation for serious, eye-catching wines at a great price.

Site: Lone Star Creek, Woori Yallock (Yarra Valley), Victoria
Winemaking: Hand picked, pressed to barrel & then wild yeast fermented & matured in used French oak barriques. Partial MLF, no fining, racked, settled (but not filtered) & then into bottle. No additions of any kind other than sulphur dioxide.

"It sits slightly cloudy in the glass – one of those love/hate things. It always puts me in a positive frame of mind. Matchsticks and associated funk. Slate, snow peas, tropical fruit. Texture aplenty. Gravel and/or gunmetal. It’s a touch more ‘varietal’ than its Willowlake stablemate, more grippy too, a little less flow and little more dare, though there’s certainly still plenty of the former and not an excessive amount of the latter, if that males sense. "Hand-picked, wild-fermented and matured in used French barriques, partial mlf. Gunflint, slatey and fresh herbal aromas upfront, with a touch of reduction. More obvious varietal characters emerge as it sits in the glass, but stay mainly within the leaner, greener end of the spectrum. Tasting the wine it feels more accessible, with a riper, quite juicy feel to the fruit, although the texture and taut, almost grippy acidity are the definitive elements." - Steven Creber (Halliday Wine Companion)

Warehouse Pickupis available from our Sydney warehouse in Ultimo, 2007. Just select Local Pickup at checkout. We are open 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Do I have to order in dozens? No, please mix it up! You can order wines in any quantity and variation you like. You can order 1 bottle or 50. We challenge you to make the ultimate mixed pack of wine!
Are there volume discounts? No, our pricing is designed to be the best in market already - no marking up and then discounting down! For very large orders (weddings, etc) we are open to negotiating though. Just give us a call.
Do we price match? Yes, within reason. Everyday low & consistent pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. If you see a price lower somewhere else let us know and we'll consider matching it. We'll even retrospectively issue you store credit if you have already purchased from us but you see a lower price somewhere later on. Our price match policy can be seen here.
Can coupons and discounts be stacked? No, only one discount or coupon can be applied to an order at once.
I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me? This means we are running low on stock of that wine. So for example, if the website will only allow you to add 3 bottles and no more, then that is all we have of that particular wine. The good news is we may be able to order more for you. Just contact us on 02 8376 8775 or hello@differentdrop.com and we'll organise the additional quantity for you.
Does Different Drop have a physical store? No. Just an a warehouse/office. We occasionally do events however, so sign up to our newsletter or follow us on instagram to stay in the loop.
Can I special order a wine you do not sell? If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
