About

About The Wine

The Floyd is not your average Rosé.

This delectable minimal-intervention Rosé is formed through an unholy matrimony of Grenache and Viognier sourced from Heathcote in Central Victoria.

There's a slickness and slipperiness to this wine which makes it insanely moreish. There's spice and rosy aromatics from the Grenache and that ripe succulent stone fruit which is Viognier's signature. The two combined compliment each other wonderfully.

If you're looking for a deliciously different style of Rosé, Tim Sproal's will hit the mark.

About Minim

Minim Wines is the love-child of Tim Sproal, a labour of love that started with just one tonne of Shiraz and a milk vat in a mate's garage.

Tim sources small parcels of fruit from Central Victorian vineyards that farm with care. The wines are all about texture and energy, Tim's less-is-more winemaking approach bringing a great feel to the Minim range.

These are clean and energetic natural wines with loads of personality.

DDS review

Glug Glug Glug, man this is good drinking! Some crunchy red berried goodness from the Grenache, hints of rose petal and spice with a slick flood of peachy mid palate fruit from the Viognier. It's cleansing and delicious to drink, the acid bright enough to cut through. A little funky and cloudy at the same time. Wicked Rosé. - Different Drop Wine Team

Additional Info

From The Producer

The 2017 Minim Floyd is the third time round the sun for this joyous and fruitful expression, refined on each take and influence generously by the vintage that was. This wine is built around a large ferment of destemmed south Heathcote Viognier and north Heathcote Grenache, in equal parts and picked within a day of each other. Both are grown by the enigmatic Steve Travers of Merindoc Vintners.

An earlier pick of the Grenache was whole-bunch pressed as a higher acid Rose, fermented in barrel, whilst a later pick of riper fruit was fermented carbonically as whole bunches, aiming to lift fruit and offer textural contrast. The three wines were racked and blended to tank with a small sulphur addition. This is a lighter take on Floyd to previous years, as dictated by the vintage, yet it offers the most aromatically developed and exciting expression so far. A maverick Rose with vivid fruit and unexpectedly developed tannin.
