About The Wine

The name Sang de Pigeon is drawn from winemaker Michael Hall's time as a jewellery valuer. Meaning "Blood of the Pidgeon", this title was given to only the reddest of rubies in the trade.

Here, Michael uses it to describe the fine fruit selected for this lovely Shiraz. This is predominantly sourced from the Marananga sub-region of the Barossa Valley with 10% of the fruit coming from the Adelaide Hills.

It's made with Michael's signature deft touch resulting in a robust yet sleek red with 93 points from Ned Goodwin MW. A classy and great value version of Shiraz from this famous region.

About Michael Hall

It is Michael Hall's precise and methodical approach to winemaking which has made him stand out in the crowd of Barossa Valley winemakers.

A jewellery valuator in a previous life, his wines ooze clarity and attention to detail. They focus on small vineyards in the Barossa and Adelaide Hills that produce high-quality fruit. The wine are made with no shortcuts in the winery and an unwavering commitment to quality.

These are classically styled, refined wines designed to speak articulately of the Barossa and the surrounds.

Michael's wines are top shelf.

Halliday Wine Companion

"Fermented in a combination of open and closed-top fermenters, resplendent with 26% whole bunches, this is Barossa of a lighter lilac shade. Punchy acidity corrals blue and black fruit allusions all, underlain with a chassis of fruit cake spice, mint and anise. The tannins are present and nicely defined. Marked, even, winnowing the sweetness of the fruit to a tenser savoury meld. This is far from a second-tier knock-back. Indeed, it holds its head high among a fine range of wines." - Ned Goodwin MW (Halliday Wine Companion)

Nice drop

Typical Barossa Shiraz with a lovely bold flavour. Took a punt on this one and it paid off.

Are there volume discounts?

No our pricing is aiming to the best in the market already. For very large orders (weddings etc) we are open to negotiating though. Just give us a call. How does the price match work?

Everyday Low & Consistent Pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. If you see a price lower somewhere else let us know and we'll match it. We'll even retrospectively refund you if you have already purchased from us but you see a lower price somewhere later on. I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me?

This means we are running low on stock of that wine. So for example, if the website will only allow you to add 3 bottles and no more, then that is all we have of that particular wine. The good news is we may be able to order more for you. Just contact us on 1300 668 385 or hello@differentdrop.com and we'll organise the additional quantity for you.

Does Different Drop have a physical store?

No, not really. More of a warehouse/office. We do however offer a Click & Collect option from our warehouse in Ultimo, Sydney. Our warehouse address for Click & Collect is: F5A, 42 Wattle St, Ultimo, 2007

Can I special order a wine you do not sell?

If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
