About The Wine

The Massolino Barolo is a blend of cru vineyards across Serralunga that makes a snapshot of the vintage told through the lens of Nebbiolo.

It's a very important wine to the family, heralding the quality of their elite single vineyard Baroli and it is considered by many as something of touchstone of quality for the region.

It's a classically styled wine, all red fruits and florals with well settled acidity, and seems to be become more delicate with each release.

It also carries with it the Massolino signature clarity and definition, making it a wine that looks its best with a little time to sleep in the bottle.

About Massolino

The Massolino family's history as winegrowers in Serralunga stretches back more than a century.

Founded in 1896 by Giovanni Massolino, the family's heritage is richly intertwined with that of the whole region. They now farm 23 hectares across prime real estate in the Serralunga sub-region, with premium holdings on the famed slopes of Margheria, Parafada and the legendary vineyard Vigna Rionda.

These are wines that, while classic, have continued to evolve over each generation in pursuit of the purest expression of the beloved Nebbiolo grape.

One of the great wine families of Piemonte, the wines are prized in the best cellars and restaurants in the world.

Look out for wonderfully complex Moscatos alongside their traditional red releases.

"The 2017 Barolo is a gorgeous, harmonious wine. In this vintage, the straight Barolo is a bit lighter than normal, as most wines are, but it is so impeccably balanced. Pliant and inviting, the 2017 will be pleasurable to drink in another year or two. The purity of the flavors is just striking. Red berry fruit, rose petal, mint, cinnamon and crushed rose petal are some of the many aromas and flavors that grace this exquisite Barolo from the Massolino family. So many 2017s are marked by sinewy tannins, here, they are especially fine." - Antonio Galloni (Vinous.com)
