About The Wine

The second release of Hamish Young's Mada Wines Riesling is a great follow up to the 2016.

Again, Hamish has played around with some skin contact and egg fermentation to amp-up the mouthfeel in this sizzling Murrumbateman Riesling. It's a little finer and tighter in style than the inaugural release and Hamish prefers this vintage to its predecessor.

This is a smashing release from Hamish, a Canberra Riesling that feels electric to drink. Get some while you can, there's very little of this available and the Mada Wines are in high demand.

About Mada Wines

Mada wines sees ex-Eden Road operational winemaker Hamish Young venture out on his own for the first time.

Sourcing fruit from some great sites across the Canberra and Hilltops regions, his first releases were a smash hit and his star continues to rise.

His wines show a fresher and more modern side of NSW wine, all about vibrant fruit and ease of drinking. He looks for texture in his aromatic whites, freshness in his delightful red wines, each release sees him refine his own 'house style' a little more.

This is a Canberra producer to watch for the future. One of the new crop of Canberra which is shaking up the regional scene.

"Hamish Young is running at full tilt. These Mada Wines have been a small revelation for me, brilliant in their personality, intriguing expressions of Canberra District and surrounds. This wine is now sourced from a single site, a vineyard well-loved, set on the eastern flank of Murrumbateman. The wines sees around 1/3 getting a four week skin maceration in ceramic egg. No additions aside SO2. Nice work, Mishywishy, as they call him, or at least I do. Texture and pop of fruit. Undeniably vibrant, almost Bickford’s Lime Cordial-scented but with ginger and lemongrass spice and a good shake of frangipani. The slide of the wine in the palate is a winner. Ice skates on sweet lime juice is the feel – acid sits cool and keen under the slip of fruit. There’s a puff of chalkiness in each sip, and a sprig of green herbs. A classic pure, zesty Murrumbateman Riesling with tiny layers of texture and exotic spice. Fruit Grown by - The Lambert Family, Murrumbateman, Canberra District Fruit notes - Clone D2V2, central Murrumbateman granite, clay loam soils and shale.

Winemaking Notes - 40% Whole berry fermentation in ceramic egg, wild ferment on skins for three weeks before being pressed to stainless steel. 60% Stainless steel tank fermentation.

We ship primarily with Australia Post. Their fast, easy and reliable delivery is completely FREE for any orders of $150 or more, or just $9 for any orders of $149 or less. There is no minimum order quantity and you can mix and match as much as you like.

The vast majority of orders are dispatched from our Sydney warehouse on the same or next business day. Estimated delivery time frames can be viewed here. Please include Authority to Leave instructions in the ‘SPECIAL REQUESTS’ box during checkout if you may not be available to sign for your delivery and would like it left at your front door.
