Want to see one of Australia’s best rose wines? It’s here.
Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)
About The Wine
This wine is made from a particular Nebbiolo clone which is perfct for making Rosé.
In the long cool season that was 2017 in Central Victoria, Owen Latta let this hang on the vine until mid-May before picking. The fruit tasted delicious, the flavours ripe and juicy, but the sugar was low, so this 10.0% ABV Rosé was born.
It's light as a feather, yet persistent at the same time. It moved Mike Bennie to his highest score for a Rosé this year on The Wine Front with a huge 96 point score. It's a delicate Rosé with plenty of nuance, no additions and a bucket load of personality.
Impossible to not fall in love with, it's a Rosé to make you blush.
About Eastern Peake / Latta Vino
Is anyone working as hard as Owen Latta to put Ballarat in the mix of Australia's foremost wine regions? At only 15 years old he completed his first vintage at Eastern Peake alongside his father and has since taken on the full-time running of the business.
Owen is the man primarily responsible for both the Eastern Peake and Latta wines, the former of which being dedicated to premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Eastern Peake vineyard, and the latter being Owen's personal project all about innovation from a range of excellent central Victorian vineyards.
The wines are all gently brought to life with very astute yet hands-off winemaking, and Owen's low and zero-sulphur wines are some of the best examples in the country. These are thrilling, absolutely unique Victorian wines, and quite simply Owen Latta is one of Australia's finest young winemakers.
