About The Wine

"Latta wines are compelling expressions, from a young mind, executed with experience," said an impressed Mike Bennie in the opening to his review of Owen Latta's last release of the Quartz Bianco. The 2017 likely going to elicit a similar respones, it's another home run for this amazing and original winemaking talent.

Here's a great example of Owen's explorative winemaking mind. This is a fascinating depiction of Sauvignon Blanc from a quartz riddled vineyard in Moonambel, Pyrenees.

It's treated oxidatively, with a long and slow ferment followed by lees contact and full malo-lactic fermentation, and zero SO2 added at any point. It's an exciting wine for those who are exploring the multifaceted nature of Sauvignon Blanc and a great representation of the originality of this awesome Victorian producer. 

About Eastern Peake / Latta Vino

Is anyone working as hard as Owen Latta to put Ballarat in the mix of Australia's foremost wine regions? At only 15 years old he completed his first vintage at Eastern Peake alongside his father and has since taken on the full-time running of the business.

Owen is the man primarily responsible for both the Eastern Peake and Latta wines, the former of which being dedicated to premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Eastern Peake vineyard, and the latter being Owen's personal project all about innovation from a range of excellent central Victorian vineyards.

The wines are all gently brought to life with very astute yet hands-off winemaking, and Owen's low and zero-sulphur wines are some of the best examples in the country. These are thrilling, absolutely unique Victorian wines, and quite simply Owen Latta is one of Australia's finest young winemakers.

DDS review

Creamy leesy goodness, some sea spray notes, salted baked figs and a crucshed rock minerality. Man this is compelling drinking. It's got some ripe fruit - more gauva and stonefruit than passionafruit but it's al the more savoury/umami aspects of the wine that suck you in. Great drink. Great take on SB. Great stuff from Owen.

"More beautiful wine from Owen Latta, and more, again, reflective of just how darn talented he is (and how evidently good his vineyard sources are). Superb drinking experience here, showing some great character as it opens from ice cold out of fridge to hours later. Decant, is a good idea. Shows green apple, faint salted caramel, sweet lemon and honeysuckle fragrance. The palate is tight but shows a juiciness too, more green apple, chalky mineral licks, some tonic water bitter-sweetness and a long, drawn out, tangy-acidity finish that refreshes to the max. A sense of ‘precision’ too, with its firm edges and dart-shaped thrust through the mouth. Totally great." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

We ship primarily with Australia Post. Their fast, easy and reliable delivery is completely FREE for any orders of $150 or more, or just $9 for any orders of $149 or less. There is no minimum order quantity and you can mix and match as much as you like.

The vast majority of orders are dispatched from our Sydney warehouse on the same or next business day. Estimated delivery time frames can be viewed here. Please include Authority to Leave instructions in the ‘SPECIAL REQUESTS’ box during checkout if you may not be available to sign for your delivery and would like it left at your front door.
