About The Wine

This new release from Joshua Cooper is an amalgam of his multiple Pinot Noir vineyards across the Macedon Ranges.

It's built as an earlier drinking, young and frisky 'snapshot' of the Pinot Noir vintage for Josh in 2017. It looks to be a very good vintage for him.

Josh's Pinots have a certain 'wildness' to them, this is no different. But the young, expressive fruit shines through.

It's a Pinot Noir with attitude and playfulness in equal measure.

About Joshua Cooper

Joshua Cooper is the son of Nelly and Allan Cooper, the founders of the acclaimed Cobaw Ridge winery in the Macedon Ranges.

A young winemaker on the rise, Josh is working with fruit from outside the family plot to craft his own suite of low-intervention wine. The growers he works with from across central Victoria farm with a like-minded philosophy of organic farming and sustainability.

The wines have a delicacy and unforced feel to them. Josh makes only a small amount of each wine and they are in high demand from those who want to get in early on the next generation of Cooper. He is one to watch closely as his own style and craftsmanship continue to evolve.

From The Producer

A blend of the three pinot noir vineyards I now work with.  A fruitier, earlier drinking style bottled with a light spritz (20ppm SO2 as fruit but none thereafter or at bottling). Greater than the sum of its parts, this is a great early snapshot of the promise of my 2017 single vineyard pinot noirs.

Doug’s Vineyard contributing the core, pure red fruits, red rose, turned earth and spice, Straws Lane delicate strawberry and pepper spice, and a brittleness (this site is at 800m ASL on the North face of Mount Macedon), Ray-Monde, violet, flint and black cherry (30 year old vines on the Southern edge of the Macedon GI planted on incredibly shallow alluvial clay/silts over solid “bluestone” basalt bedrock).

Blend : Pinot Noir (100%)
ABV : 12.5%
Closure : DIAM Cork
Drink Until : 2022
Bottle Size : 750ml
