About The Wine

The Hoddles Creek 1er Chardonnay is a wine of exceptional class and intensity.

Made exclusively from fruit grown on the Hoddles Creek estate, this is one of the Yarra Valley's benchmark Chardonnays. The fruit that winemaker Franco D'Anna had to work with in 2017 was as good as any fruit the Yarra has seen in a decade or more.

Immensely cellar-worthy and tightly wound, the 2017 vintage will go down as one of the great releases of this wine, though due to lower yields in 2017 allocations are limited.

This is premium Chardonnay done the Yarra Valley way. Buy with supreme confidence.

About Hoddles Creek Estate

Hoddles Creek lay a serious claim to being one of the best value producers in Australia.

Led by the extremely hardworking winemaking guru Franco D’Anna, the Hoddles team craft wonderful Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in particular that seriously overdeliver at all price-points.

The wines are all made from fruit grown on their family vineyard in the Upper Yarra Valley.

A must try for Yarra Valley fans and bargain hunters alike!

DDS review

Pretty wound up at the moment. Peach, grapefruit, some lemon and a mealy character are most prominent. Flows strong through the palate but holds something in reserve. Needs a while to open up and really hit his straps. Low on the sulphides. More pure fruit. Crystalline acidity with minerals in toe. Glossy texture. Oak does its part. Fruit is uber concentrated. Acid cleanly defined. Top class all the way. - Different Drop Wine Team

"This is swish. Straw-yellow in colour, stone fruit riddled, shy on the nose but textural and alive on the palate. A gentle creaminess, spice notes, slate even, honeysuckle and toast. Extremely pure. Flowing robes of flavour. Grapefruit-like bite to the aftertaste, as a distinct positive. It’s still gathering itself but already it’s a treat to drink. A beautiful, beautiful wine." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)
