About The Wine
It may say 'Marlborough' and 'Sauvignon Blanc' on the front label, but this is anything but your average Marlborough Sauv Blanc.
It's a long, slow process for this wine to get to bottle, taking 15 months in barrel on lees before reaching the glass.
The richness of flavour and furious complexity of this wine shows just how good Sauvignon Blanc from this part of the world when made with care and attention.
It's a terrific wine. Bold but balance and immensely pleasurable to drink.
About Hans Herzog
With over 500 years of winemaking history in his family, Swiss winemaker Hans Herzog picked up his life in Zurich wine country, and with his wife Therese, headed for New Zealand. In 1994, they established one of the most stunning vineyards in the heart of the Marlborough region, planting an astonishing 29 varieties on their small patch of land.
They tend the vineyard with immense love and care. Everything is grown organically. Hans crafts premium, idiosyncratic wines that show the beauty of his vineyard in every glass and shares these wines with every person who comes to dine at their fine estate.

Such purity in the fruit allowed for an extended cold maceration to extract the wonderful flavours. After gentle pressing the must was transferred into 500 lt French oak puncheons (30% new) where the wild yeast fermentation naturally started. The wine was then left on the lees with regular stirring to provide silkiness, complexity and depth and had time to mature over 15 months before we bottled this nectar. This wine is not cold stabilized and is unfined with only light filtration to retain the beautiful aromas with a low sulpur addition. Natural sediments may show but do not impact on the high quality of this natural wine.

"One of the great organic/natural wine producers of New Zealand, Hans Herzog produces very good wines off the back of extremely fine tuned viticulture and winemaking. Manically so, more or less. They are wonderful people, the Herzogs, and the wines are generally outstanding. This was popped and poured through a blind tasting and shone. It’s a bold white wine, too. Very complex, fuller flavoured white wine with lots of character, verve, get up ‘n’ go, and general sense of ‘yes thanks this is good’ stuff in the glass. Preserved lemon, waxy texture, slippery finish, lots of savoury nuttiness through the wine. Good good. It’s got concentration and depth, a lovely sense of a detailed version of the variety, and all up, just wonderfully drinkable. One to pause on and enjoy slowly." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

Do I have to order in dozens? No, please mix it up! You can order wines in any quantity and variation you like. You can order 1 bottle or 50. We challenge you to make the ultimate mixed pack of wine!
Are there volume discounts? No, our pricing is designed to be the best in market already - no marking up and then discounting down! For very large orders (weddings, etc) we are open to negotiating though. Just give us a call.
Do we price match? Yes, within reason. Everyday low & consistent pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. If you see a price lower somewhere else let us know and we'll consider matching it. We'll even retrospectively issue you store credit if you have already purchased from us but you see a lower price somewhere later on. Our price match policy can be seen here.
Can coupons and discounts be stacked? No, only one discount or coupon can be applied to an order at once.
I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me? This means we are running low on stock of that wine. So for example, if the website will only allow you to add 3 bottles and no more, then that is all we have of that particular wine. The good news is we may be able to order more for you. Just contact us on 02 8376 8775 or hello@differentdrop.com and we'll organise the additional quantity for you.
Does Different Drop have a physical store? No. Just an a warehouse/office. We occasionally do events however, so sign up to our newsletter or follow us on instagram to stay in the loop.
Can I special order a wine you do not sell? If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
