About The Wine

The Nikkal wines are made by experienced Yarra Valley winemaker, Kate Goodman.

The Nikkal Pinot Noir comes from four vineyard across the Yarra Valley. From a lovely vintage in 2017, Kate uses whole berry fermentation to excellent effect here, bringing forth a bright and cheery Pinot Noir which is ripe for drinking immediately.

It's a lovely example of the approachability of 2017 Pinot Noir from the Yarra Valley, the wines are open and generous in their youth.

Perfect for those looking for Pinot to pop and pour.

From The Producer

Cherries, raspberries, rhubarb and a touch of spice all find a place to create a vibrant, full and generous wine with a velvety and fleshy texture.

Bursting with flavour, this is a supple wine with youthful juiciness. A blend of pinot noir grapes from four vineyard sites which truly captures the essence of the Yarra Valley. Each vineyard brings a different element to the wine, with the overall theme being bright fleshy fruit.

The four vineyards are: Roundstone Estate, Steels Creek, Upper Ngumby, Yarra Glen,  Gist, Christmas Hills, Willowlake, Gladysdale

I keep every parcel of fruit separate in the winery before and after fermentation. I keep the wine in barrel for six months before I bring the best of all the vineyards together to blend a deliciously succulent wine.

Blend : Pinot Noir (100%)
ABV : 13.00%

The Wine Front

"Tasted these a while ago and thought I’d posted reviews; was surprised to find no mention of the Nikkal wines on the site. This one is Yarra Valley pinot noir from a good vintage, from a range of vineyard sites. Here we go: my notes simply say: “Cherry, apple, violet and beet, woodsy spices about the edges. Neat, compact, attractive.” I think you get the drift. It’s well made and delivers good varietal flavour." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

Excellent little Pinot which is extremely good value.

Great little Yarra Pinot from the 2017 vintage. Upon first tasting, it was a little bit bolder than I expected but it was still pleasant to drink along with dinner. I let the bottle sit for an hour or two though and it became even better upon second try, with some previous tastes on the palette now evident which didnt exist before (slightly sweeter with Honey overtones). Highly recommended.

Holy mother of Jesus wow

Asked a cellar expert (Healesville Hotel) to pick me a wine similar to a Pinot or Tempranillo, subtle fruits and medium punch to finish.

Absolutely delivered, love the fruitiness balanced by a mixed spice. Light in colour, medium in body and full of flavour beyond what its scent gives away. Must try and will be buying a tonne of these bottles - if you like a full Pinot, or ‘hate all Pinot’ because it’s ‘too delicate’, I challenge you to try this wine as it brings out the strong flavour many love (including myself) about Pinot Noir.

A boutique wine good enough to be listed in a great restaurant - enough said!

Picked this wine at our local (and excellent restaurant on the South Coast of NSW, The Republique Bistro and Bar, check it out on Trip Advisor and Facebook for reviews) as we love Pinot Noir. Found out after the fact that it is made by a winemaker from the South Coast who has moved to Victoria so we were already biased! It wowed us enough to go searching for it online and hey presto, we found it on Different Drop, and it is just that, a different drop of superb Pinot Noir that you just don't find in the bottle shop. Great value but more importantly a great tasting wine. If it's good enough to be served in one of the best restaurants we know, it's good enough. Period.

You can judge this book by its label

They say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but maybe there’s an exception for some wines. Take Kate Goodman’s 2017 Goodman Nikkal Pinot Noir as the case in point. Stunning labels and just as mesmerising inside the glass. Kate’s a maestro in her field, and a couple of glasses of her Pinot Noir adds ticks to the CV.

FaQs
Do I have to order in dozens?

No, please mix it up! You can order wines in any quantity and variation you like. You can order 1 bottle or 50. We challenge you to make the ultimate mixed pack of wine!

Are there volume discounts?

No our pricing is aiming to the best in the market already. For very large orders (weddings etc) we are open to negotiating though. Just give us a call. How does the price match work?

Everyday Low & Consistent Pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. If you see a price lower somewhere else let us know and we'll match it. We'll even retrospectively refund you if you have already purchased from us but you see a lower price somewhere later on. Our price match policy can be seen here.

I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me?

This means we are running low on stock of that wine. So for example, if the website will only allow you to add 3 bottles and no more, then that is all we have of that particular wine. The good news is we may be able to order more for you. Just contact us on 1300 668 385 or hello@differentdrop.com and we'll organise the additional quantity for you.

Does Different Drop have a physical store?

No, not really. More of a warehouse/office. We do however offer a Click & Collect option from our warehouse in Ultimo, Sydney. Our warehouse address for Click & Collect is: F5A, 42 Wattle St, Ultimo, 2007

Can I special order a wine you do not sell?

If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
