2017 Good Intentions Wine Co. Noir Dee Doot Dah

Mount Gambier, SA

Fascinating, organically grown Pinot from a very original / very cool young producer.

About The Wine

Here's an alternative style of Pinot Noir made naturally from the volcanic slopes of Mount Gambier in South Australia.

The fruit comes from the Good Intentions Wine Co. farm, grown with organic and biodynamic principals at play and made with no additions.

It's sappy and juicy with a healthy does of whole-bunchy wildness.

The idea here is for Andrew to produce an honest and untinked-with example of Pinot Noir that tells the story of his unique vineyard and he's nailed it.

About Good Intentions Wine Co.

Andrew and Louise Burchell moved to Mount Gambier with a view to start a family, grow grapes and craft wines that showcase the unique terroir of their home.

Mount Gambier is Australia's youngest volcano, having last erupted only 6000 years ago. The Burchell farm and their additional leased vineyards are all set on the slopes of Mount Gambier, the mix of rich volcanic soils and mineral-charged water making for unique grape growing conditions in their little patch of earth.

The Good Intentions wines are all made with indigenous yeasts, bottled unfined and unfiltered and released with little to no sulphur. These are slightly wild and idiosyncratic wines packed with personality.

An interesting producer doing things just a little bit different in their patch of the country.

Critic Reviews

DDS review

Sour cherry and tart orange bitterness, spicy, sappy and a touch of herb. It's a grungy style of Pinot but great fun to drink. There's a base note of earth and mineral tannin with lively fruit over the top. Joyful and unpretentious, here a slightly crazy little Pinot for the natural wine lovers out there. - Different Drop Wine Team

Additional Info

From The Producer

The Pinot Noir is off our organically run Boxer's vineyard on the youngest volcanic soils in the country over heavy limestone. We spray our own fermented sea weed (sourced locally from our nearby beach) and our worm castings via the lunar calendar. T

he Pinot Noir fruit for this wine is treated with three different techniques; either de-stemmed, carbonic macerated or whole bunch treated. Fruit is left to macerate on skins for approx. 2 weeks, and then put into old French oak.

The different styles are kept separately then all blended before being racked and minimal sulfur added at bottling.
