About the Wine

This is one of the most glugable light and breezy red wines you are likely to come across.

Here, Pinot Noir and Shiraz from James Hamilton's family vineyard in Adelaide Hills, combine forces into a red with unstoppable drinkability. The sweet red fruits of the Pinot, the lovely plump mid-palate of the Shiraz, it's such a winning combination.

Looking for something red to knock back in tumblers on your next picnic? The Lazy Sunday Light Red is your winner.

About Golden Child

Golden Child is the project of father-and-son team, David and James Hamilton.  David grows the grapes from his own vineyard in Kuitpo in the southern Adelaide Hills, while son James uses his immense winemaking talents to bring the wines to bottle.

Having their own extensive, 20+ year old vineyard gives the Hamiltons enormous flexibility with the wines and allows James to craft some pretty unique offerings.  The fruit is all hand-picked, fermented with natural yeasts and crafted together gently and with minimum additions.

The range is wide, colourful and wholly enjoyable - this is a new Hills producer to keep an eye on.

Critic Reviews

The Wine Front

"Keeping it in the family, this 1997 planted estate is being looked after between father/viti David Hamilton and son/winemaker James Hamilton. Really liking the vibe of these wines, and James is a bit of a dude. This is a pinot noir and syrah blend. Thirst-slaking red for sunny days, BBQs, llama washing, car fixing and post digging holes. Has a cherry pip, cherry juice kinda vibe to it, splashes of tart acidity, little dash of spicy peppery stuff, some fine tannin to boot. It’s best chilled and drunk with impunity than poring over it, though doing that won’t be disappointing, just maybe not the point. A complex rose-light red style done so very well. Go long before summer is over." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)_
