2017 Golden Child As Daylight Dies Pinot Noir

Adelaide Hills, SA

Charming, playful and totally gluggable Pinot from a rising star.

Out of Stock

Juicy, fun-loving pinot... Loaded with perfume, fresh in fruitiness to taste, good-light tannin profile, brisk acidity. It’s daring you to drink a lot. It’s great.

About The Wine

James Hamilton is pumping out some seriously likeable wines from his family's Adelaide Hills vineyard, and this Pinot is no exception.

It's bright and lifted on the one hand but with 60% whole bunches providing extra spice and depth.

If you're looking for an easy-to-drink/glug Pinot with a little x-factor, look no further.  This is tops.

About Golden Child

Golden Child is the project of father-and-son team, David and James Hamilton.  David grows the grapes from his own vineyard in Kuitpo in the southern Adelaide Hills, while son James uses his wealth of winemaking experience to bring the wines to bottle.

Having their own 20+-year-old vineyard gives the Hamiltons enormous flexibility with the wines and allows James to craft some pretty unique offerings. The fruit is all hand-picked, fermented with natural yeasts and crafted together gently and with minimum additions.

The range is wide, colourful and wholly enjoyable - this is a new Hills producer to keep an eye on.

From the Producer

“It was a wet Spring and a cool summer, which resulted in a super late vintage perfect for Pinot Noir. The cooler conditions led to slow, even ripening with great colour and fantastic natural acidity. I reckon this is some of the best Pinot Dad has ever grown.”

This wine is a blend of our ‘A Block’ MV6 clone and ‘H Block’ Pommard clone. The cool vintage meant the acidity took ages to reduce to a level appropriate for picking, so the flavour spectrum is actually fairly ripe. The final blend is 60% MV6 and 40% Pommard, with about 60% whole bunches used. Racked once for bottling with minimal SO2.

Blend : Pinot Noir (100%)
ABV : 13.80%
