About The Wine

Stonegarden is one of the most famous vineyards in the Barossa Valley.

These old, legendary vines produce some of the most earth-shatteringly powerful fruit in the whole region. Brett Grocke has tended these vines for many years, when he picks the fruit, he knows it intimately.

This is an imperious wine. Bold, polished, unabashed an imminently cellar-worthy.

With 95+ points from Gary Walsh, this is the perfect option for lovers of serious, premium Barossa Shiraz.

About Eperosa

Eperosa is Brett Grocke's heart and soul.

As a fifth generation born and raised Barossa viticulturalist/winemaker, Eperosa is the vessel through which he tells the story of the patches of the Barossa which he has cared for his whole life.

These wines are honest, robust and made with minimal intervention. A true representation of the modern Barossa with old vines and a rich family heritage as the backdrop.

Critic Reviews

The Wine Front

"Includes a cheeky 5% Malbec, and comes from a vineyard planted in the 1860s and 1950s. As an aside, it’s great to see wines coming out of the Barossa that feel more ‘natural’ and not tricked up in the winery so much, and not ashamed of tannin. Plum, dried roses, a sweet earthy thing going on, liquorice and vanilla. It’s full-bodied, flooded with ripe plum and dark cherry, but also plays meaty and earthy, with a luxurious suite of fat graphite tannin – certainly has a stony/mineral feel to it – lovely unobtrusive acidity, and a very long perfumed finish, slick with ripe tannin. In short, it’s very bloody good. Very." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

From The Producer

Single Block 1860's - 1950's planted

No Fining. No Filtration

The Stonegarden Shiraz is from plantings that date around the 1860’s and the 1950's from one of the oldest vineyards in Australia. The vineyard soils are a combination of quartz and granitic rock and sands thereof on an Easterly facing slope reaching 395 metres above sea level. The wine was basket pressed into one French oak puncheon and two French oak hogsheads where it remained on lees for 15 months.

Aromas of Cola, wet stone, blackcurrant and violets. The palate is laced with elegant black fruits and a minerality that moves into a deep yet approachable tannin structure. A complex, ethereal wine with brooding flavours that draw through to the long finish. A wine that is surprisingly drinkable now, yet born from a vineyard that has the pedigree to cellar for 20+ years.
