About
What a wine. Complex, graceful, and just so lovely to drink.

About The Wine

We've got a live one here.

The Barossa has some of the world's oldest Semillon vines but few realise brilliant wines from them like wine grower and maker Brett Grocke.

This comes from the Magnolia vineyard. It's fermented in barrel, the power of the old vine fruit calling out for more texture from winemaking.

This is a delicious wine. With 95 points from Gary Walsh it offers great value.

About Eperosa

Eperosa is Brett Grocke's heart and soul.

Grocke is a fifth generation born and raised Barossa viticulturalist/winemaker. Eperosa is the vessel through which he tells the stories of the small patches of the Barossa which he has cared for his whole life. He works with long-established vineyards planted on ancient soils and channels the regional warmth, richness and power of the Barossa with a deft artist's touch.

These wines are honest, robust and made with minimal intervention. A true representation of the modern Barossa with old vines and a rich family heritage as the backdrop.

Grocke's star is on the rise, being named James Halliday's Winemaker of the Year for 2021.

Dry Farmed, Single Vineyard

No Fining. No Filtration

The Magnolia Road Vineyard, Vine Vale Semillon is from three separate plantings - 1941, 1971 and 1975. The 3 blocks lie between 310-330 metres above sea level and the vineyard run organically with the use of sheep to graze through winter. The vines grow in deep sands at the foot of Mengler's Hill derived from the granitic parent rock sitting in the gullies above. The fruit was handpicked over five separate days, barrel fermented and aged in French oak for 15 months.

The wine is a mix of lemon sorbet and green apple with an oyster shell like minerality interwoven with soft, waxy, golden textures. A seam of beautiful natural acid tails off to a long finish full of mouthwatering vitality. The Blanc has immediate drinkability but also long term aging ability, an inherent trait of Semillon.

"Far out. Barrel ferment Semillon from the Magnolia Road Vineyard, Vine Vale – plantings – 1941, 1971 and 1975.Colour: she’s golden but she’s green. Sweet lemon, a little spice and honey, rich, but fresh. The texture like sun, so energising, with ultra-fine chalkiness, flavour of lime, lemon and green apple sorbet, a brine and waxy savoury character in its midst, and a very long cool finish, with that dusting of tannin cleaning it up beautifully. What a wine. Complex, graceful, and just so lovely to drink. Rare and wonderful. Yes." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)
