About The Wine

There's some very interesting things amongst the Eldorado Road range, and none more so than the Quasimodo.

'Quasi' is a blend of Durif, Shiraz and Nero d'Avola from around North East Victoria.

The Durif gives the grunt, Shiraz gives the spice and structure and Nero brings the lift is the general story.

Interest and immense drinkability, this is a versatile red perfect for all occasions.

About Eldorado Road

Eldorado Road is one of Northern Victoria's hidden wine gems.

Paul Dahlenburg (Bear) and Lauretta Schulz (Laurie) are the two passionate vignerons behind this label.

After taking control of an impossibly old Glenrowan vineyard planted to Shiraz that they have brought back to life, the two have planted small parcels of Durif and Nero d'Avola on their property, believing that their unique terroir between Beechworth and Wangaratta is perfectly suited to produce powerful yet elegant expressions of these varieties.

The critical acclaim for these wines is flooding in. It's only early days for Bear and Laurie in their own operation, but Eldorado Road is definitely a producer to watch.

From The Producer

To understand Quasimodo you must venture beyond the surface and explore the inner soul. As individual varietal wines can struggle for love but when blended together they can sing, shine and bring harmony.

Quasimodo is an Australian blend of Shiraz, Durif and Nero d’Avola sourced from the regions of Eldorado, Rutherglen and Glenrowan. It’s an amalgam of flavor and colour culminating in a complex rewarding wine.

Critic Reviews

95Points
Halliday Wine Companion

"50/33/17% split, fermented separately then blended, each variety adding their strengths to the final wine. Juiciness and brightness of the nero d'Avola fruit really shines through, along with some meaty reductive characters adding a more savoury overlay. Tannins are ripe and neatly pitched, as is the medium-bodied palate and its overall immediate appeal." - Jane Faulkner (Halliday Wine Companion)

The Wine Front

"It’s a polished red with a big heart. It’s pumped full of iodine, blackberry, Pez and peppercorn flavour but it’s not overly warm and it most certainly doesn’t display excess oak. It’s a straightforward red and yet it feels ever-so-meticulous. If it was a story it would be well written and well edited. Firm ‘yes’ to this." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)
