2017 Coulter C2 Sangiovese

Gluggable Sangiovese from an impressive young winemaker. In Campbell Mattinsin's words, "Drinkability is rarely so impressive."

About The Wine

This is a bright and vibrant version of Sangiovese sourced from one vineyard in the Adelaide Hills.

Sangiovese can be a little raw as a young wine. The tannins hard, the fruit a little drying, but the Coulter Sangiovese looks pretty as a picture from day one. It's got everything you want in Sangiovese but with an easy-to-love personality.

The 2017 vintage received a glowing 95 point review from Campbell Mattinson which he dubbed, "An outstanding wine."

It's the sort of wine you want on hand when good friends pop around and a plate of charcuterie is being shared.

Critic Reviews

Halliday Wine Companion

"Nails it. The flavours flow freely from the outset but just when you think they're about to stop - they get a second wind. The spread of flavour through the finish here is really quite something. Cherry, plums, dry spice and earth. It takes complexity in its stride and makes (high) quality look easy. An outstanding wine." - Campbell Mattinson (Halliday Wine Companion)

The Wine Front

"In a word: Yes. Savoury at heart but well fruited; juicy and joyous; tannic in an integrated way; but most of all, it puts on a show through the finish. There’s serious length to this wine. It starts off in italics and finishes in bold. One sip and you’re asking for a top-up. Drinkability is rarely so impressive." - Campbell Mattinson (the Wine Front)
